Description

In this listening lesson, students will learn about everyday activities and also will learn some new vocabulary in the context of daily conversation.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about Daily conversation in the context of school and education

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about Daily conversation in the context of school and education, new vocabulary

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Focus on photos of Amelia and read the instructions. Elicit the meaning of stepdaughter. Give Sts some minutes to read the information and think about the missing words.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

Do some pre teach and give them new lexis before listening.

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Play the audio file once only for listening. Then play it again for Sts to complete the gap.

Report (6-8 minutes) • To allow students to report on how they did the task and how it went

Let students to compare their answers with partner and then check the answers.

Language Analysis (2-3 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

Language Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

If there is enough time I can get students to listen again with the script on pp 117-8, so they can know exactly what the have listen to. Explain any new word or phrases.
