Description

In this lesson Ss will be able to tell the time on the O' clock and telling the hour and minutes.

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

each one of the Students will be asked to put in his/her mind a name of a city they wish to visit and on my phone I will show them the time of this city, to demonstrate I will tell them that one day I want to visit Rome and show them the time in Rome at the moment and write it on the board.

Test #1 (10-12 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

They'll be given handouts for exercise 1&2, and they'll be asked to listen to the audio and mark the time to the clock. they'll work in pairs to say ask and answer about the time in the different cities from the previous exercise. Then they'll be given a handout for exercise 3, they will be asked to match the numbers to the watches and turn the numbers to phrases. the first one is already solved only it will be matched with them as a demonstration.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

On the board, there will be a figure of a clock. students will be exposed to the usage of the quarter, half and to, and then I will drill with them. they'll also be told that they can tell the time by mentioning the hour and the minutes as follow: 6:15 for example. on the right of the board will written: a quarter past, a quarter to, half past.

Test #2 (10-12 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

exercise 4 from the student book, each pair will be divided to A&B student, students will be asked to ask their partners questions to complete their gaps. will check by asking if they have got the same info in their papers.

Free practice (15-17 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

they'll be asked to speak in pairs about their daily routine on Sundays for example mentioning the exact times of every activity or thing they do, to imitate there'll be some key words on the board as follow: wake up, have breakfast, lunch, dinner, go to work, get back home, watch a movie, check social media,etc... and to demonstrate on the board as well, will be a model for a day routine of a random person as follow: Random man's Sundays routine. I usually wake up at quarter to seven. I wash up, have breakfast and get ready to go to work. I arrive to work at half-past eight, have my lunch break at twenty to two, and finish work at 4 O'clock. Then I go back home, change my clothes, take a nap and wake up at half-past six, then I make myself a cup of coffee and I check my social media and the news. At eight O'clock, I switch on my TV to watch my favorite show while having my dinner. And finally I go back to bed at 10 O'clock. monitor. they'll be asked to say something interesting about their partner. feedback.

Extra Activity (5-7 minutes)

If there's still time Ss will do exercise 5 from the material. they'll be working in pairs. Question (a) will be demonstrated with them. Monitor give feedback.
