In this lesson students will practice listening through song called Internal flame. They have discussions about their opinion about it, they will have activities related to this skill.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice in listening for gist and specific information in the context of love songs

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice in speaking in the context of love songs • To provide review of a/an,the,this,that,these and those in the context of love songs


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask students who is their favorite singer ? why do you like him or her? what are your memories with his/her songs ?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

in this stage I will use an activity consist of 12 pictures. The vocabulary in this activity will help them to be prepared to the song in the next stage.I will ask them if they can give instructions or not then I will say let is figure out if you can or not after that I will start explaining this matching activity and set time for it and i will use chesting, ICQS and pairing then monitoring and I will give the answer through papers on the board.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will put a picture of flame on the board and say it is related to the song they are going to listen, after that I will let them guess what this song about is it about love or hating or death? I will not answer i will tell them let is figure out by listening it after finishing i will ask them if their guessing answers was right or wrong.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

in this stage I will make them go deeper in the song through an activity. i will explain the activity using chesting and I will make ICQS to be sure that they follow every point including the time then i will hand them the papers of the activity and set time for that. I will do monitoring then I will ask them to make pair check after that i will stick the paper of answers on the board and ask them to stand up and come to check their answers. i will ask them what they think about this activity was it good or not as a feedback.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In this stage I will focus in my sup aim speaking through starting a discussing about the song and its ideas.
