In this lesson,students practice listening in the context of loves and hates.This lesson deals with a set of pictures about some famous people and somethings they love or hate .

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of listening for specific information in the context of loves and hates.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification using a set of pictures in the context of loves and hates.


Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Ask Ss to close their eyes,listen and guess what I am talking about. -Tell students short paragraphs about famous people and places when their eyes are closed. -Ask Ss CCQs:-Who/What is this? -Do you think I love it or not? -Tip the pictures on the board.

Pre/Listening (18-20 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-Ask the Ss to match the words in the box with pictures and say if they love,hate or frightened of these things(Task 1). -Teach the Ss vocabularies that I am sure they will find them difficult to understand by (drawing on the WB,synonym,description ,showing a picture and telling a story). -Ask CCQs to make sure that Ss get the meaning. -Drill the pronuciation. -Write words on the board. -Ask Ss to look at the picture of famous people and try to guess what each one loves or hates.

While/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

-Listening for specific information (Task 1). -Ask Ss to listen and check their predictions and match people with things they love or hate. -Ask Ss to listen again but this time for detail. -Ask Ss to tick the things if they are loved and cross them if they are hated (Task 3).

Post/Listening (12-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

-Ask Ss to fill the blanks with the words in the box(Task4). -Ask Ss to tell their partners about 2 things they love,2 things they hate and 2 things they are frightened of . -Then let each student share with the class information about his partner.

Feedback (3-5 minutes) • To praise any good use of the TL and correcting mistakes.

-Give students humanistic feedback about the previous task in a plenary discussion with the students.
