Description

In this lesson, Ss will learn about zero conditionals and first conditionals. The focus of the lesson is grammar and Ss will be introduced to form and usage of the above. T will teach the grammar through guided discovery, they will then practice the pronunciation and stressed syllables and intonations. They will practice the grammar in a semi controlled and freer activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of zero and first conditionals in the context of taking risks.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Ss will practice the pronunciation and stresses of the zero and first conditionals.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To arouse the Ss attention to TL i.e usage of zero and first conditionals

T will give cut statement to each S, They will then mingle around the class to find the matching statement and this way, they will find their partners.

Grammar points clarification (5-10 minutes) • Teach the TL i.e. zero and first conditionals.

T will use guided discovery to elicit the grammar of the lesson from SS and clarify the usage and correct form.

Pronunciation practice (10-15 minutes) • Practice the pronunciation and stressed syllabuls in zero and first conditionals.

Ss will receive a handout in which they will have to listen to an audio file and complete the sentences.Then they will underline the stressed words and T will help them practice intonations and stresses with drilling. Next Ss will practice the dialogue in pairs.

Controlled practice (8-12 minutes) • To practice more on the correct form of the TL.

Ss will receive a handout where they have to choose the correct form between two options. Ss who finish early will come to the WB and write answers and the others can check their answers with them.

Semi controlled practice (14-18 minutes) • To practice the form of TL in a more productive way.

Ss will receive a handout with 8 uncompleted sentences.They will complete the sentences with their own in pairs, then regroup and exchange ideas.
