During this lesson ss will practice receptive skills like listening and they will revise the grammar rule about past tenses.

Main Aims

  • To improve the receptive skill like reading in the context of text about "Good and bad manners in the partners house" and produce the speaking practice according this subject.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed listening of the conversation between a couple speaking about Russian manners and British manners and to do the T/F exercise that SS could understand the details better


Pre - reading activity (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

To ask them to imagine the situation if they are invited to join your partner's family for the weekend what can be 3 things that would be bad manners to do?

While-Reading (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with challenging and specific information reading tasks

To ask ss to read the text and answer the questions what did she do wrong? what do you think "from hell" means in the context? And after the reading the text ask to discuss in pairs what was a bad manner and what wasnt.

While-Reading (10 minutes) • To read the end of the text and speak in pairs about their opinion of the comments

To read the other part of the text and work in pairs discussing the comments of the people what was true and what was really wrong

Pre - Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice the receptive skill like listening to the conversation with less challenging task

To listen to the text and answer the questions: what problems did they have? How did they manage to solve the problem? (write questions them on the board)

While - Listening (10 minutes) • To get more detailed information about the conversation they have listened and to understand better the text

To listen to the text and mark the sentences T/F

Speaking (10 minutes) • To engage students into the new stage of the lesson, using questionnaire which will be connected with subject of the lesson "good and bad manners"

To change the partners and exchange opinions in pairs about "Good manners questionnaire"

Feedback (2 minutes) • To show that lesson is over and to let them understand that teacher is interested in their results of discussing

To ask them to share the most interesting things which they had discussed
