in this lesson , students learn about much , many and a lot of through a listening part in which two friends are talking about how to cook a food . it starts by asking students about Turkish food .Then, they continue to talk about the ingredients which it is used in cottage pie .After, they will focus on the grammar box .Next , they will do some control practice ,and we move to freer practice at the end .

Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a converstion in the context of food recipe
  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about eating in in the context of Food


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

students will be shown a photo of different Turkish dishes and be asked which one they like the most and which one is the most delicious . at this part , new vocabularies will be taught with visuals . Teacher will elicit the new words from students .in addition , teacher will elicit pronunciation of new word from students .

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this stage , students will look at a picture of 2 men that they are going to cook cottage pie . while students are looking at the picture , they will read the questions and ask and answer the questions in pair .then , the teacher will get the feedback of 3 students .

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

At this stage , students will be shown the picture of the Cottage Pie and its ingredients and they work in pairs to talk about what Duncan and Nick need to make it and students should look at Duncan and Nick 's worktop to see what they have there to make it .(If students have a lot of mistakes in this part and can not make correct sentences .The teacher goes straight to grammar spot light to clarify the the meaning ,form and pronunciation ).If they do not face any problems , they will complete a conversation using many , much and a lot of .they check with their peers ,and will listen to check their answers .

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Teacher will display 3 pictures of food and write how much and how many next to them and elicit the rest of the sentence from students . after writing the sentences on the board , teacher asks CCQs to make sure students learn the meaning or not .Afterwards , teacher will work on pronunciation .

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

To do control practice , student will be given exercise 1 hands about .they will complete them.|Next , they check their answers with their partners .when students are doing the exercises , teacher will monitor them to see whether they are on the right track or not . If the students could not do the exercises , teacher will ask CCQs and give them more examples to students to correct their mistakes .

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

students will be given exercise 3 to check the differences between countable an uncountable in sentences .they will under line the right countable or uncountable noun .they check their answers in pairs .teacher will give them the answer key .

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this part , students will be given names of foods , they will work in pairs and write their recipes .then , they explain to their partners what they are going to cook and what they need .teacher will monitor the student to check students if they made any errors to correct them afterwards .the teacher will write students errors on the board and ask them to correct the errors.
