Description

In this lesson, I am going to teach Present Perfect through a conversation. I prepare the students to make their own conversations using Present Perfect.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of Present Perfect in the context of Restaurant

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Restaurant
  • To provide gist and detailed listening practice using a text about Food in the context of Restaurant
  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about Food in the context of Restaurant

Procedure

Warm Up (3-5 minutes) • Set the Context to Trigger their Background Knowledge

To ask questions about student's experience about going to restaurants.

Presentation (7-10 minutes) • To Explain Present Perfect

In this stage, I am going to ask General Questions from the conversation context. Then, I will provide the conversation with some Gaps mostly related to Present Perfect and Ask the Students to listen to the Conversation and fill the Gaps. Then, to set the concept of Present Perfect, I will provide them a sentence and I ask some Concept Check Questions (CCQ) to make sure that the students got the meaning of Present Perfect. Next, I provide them with a Chart of Present Perfect form which is made up of Positive, Negative and Question from Conversation and The students will use the text to complete them. In this way, I focus on the form of Present Perfect.

Practice (7-10 minutes) • To have some feedback

First, I provide them with a Controlled Practice. In this, they should fill the blanks with the correct tense of the verbs. Then they Pair Check it. Next, I will give them a Semi-Controlled Practice: the students should answer the question based on their own experience but limited.

Production (7-10 minutes) • To use the Grammar in Speaking

The Students use the gap-fill handout in semi-controlled practice to mingle and make a conversation about their own and their friends' experience in restaurant. I will also monitor and check if they use the correct form of the Grammar.
