Description

In this listening part they will start with a short discussion related to their favorite kind of parties including family or friend parties . they will learn how to describe other people's appearance in grammar; in addition, we will have discussion at the end of the session.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information listening practice using a text about conversation among people about introducing people and describing people's appearance in the context of describing people

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in different pair works in the context of describing people

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will talk about parties they may like, as family or friends parties, I want them to talk about their favorite kinds of parties ,then I want them to do it in pairs and finally I go for feedback. because all the conversation is happening at the party so they may get familiar .

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

some pictures of famous people will be stuck on the board and some sentences written about them as cut-outs will be give to ss and they have to guess which sentence goes to which of them. The reason is all the listening is about describing people and the language they need. in listening ss come across with functional language of prediction, so I think it is a good practice.then I will pre-teach some vocabulary related to the appearance.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

after first time they have listened to the conversation, they have two gist questions which they check in pairs and then WC, for second time they listen and they have to answer some specific questions

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Here ss will listen to the audio for last time and they have some detail questions to answer, they answer them all , check in pairs and we will have feedback. Questions are in different types.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

They have some HO about their appearance and they have to tick those are correct about themselves, I will get the pieces of paper and stick them on the board they have to stand up and guess who has written this.
