Description

In this lesson,Students learn using a lexical set of shopping words correctly.They will be able to know the names of shops that they usually go to. The lesson starts with a discussion on the names of stores where they go to buy things.This is followed by a picture about each store,then the pronunciation of each picture.Finally there is a controlled practice through matching the places with words in the box and a free practice via working in group ask an answer questions about the stores.

Materials

Abc Power point,flash cards,board

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of kinds of stores such as: clothes shop,book shop,chemists,cafe in the context of shopping places.

Subsidiary Aims

  • A dialogue between two asking about places to do things.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

*Remind Ss with the previous lesson which was about the items that their family can buy from the stores. * Ask Ss to mention the stores in their neighborhood..

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

*Show flash cards of different stores for shopping. *Watch a video on a conversation between two related to shopping in the mall

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

* Highlight the new vocabularies about shopping stores. *encouraging Ss to discuss specific to mention specific places in their area.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

* Clarify the meaning of (clothes shop, book shop, chemist, cafe) * Elicit the pronunciation of the new vocabularies. *Drilling, then write the form on the WB.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

* Ss answer the exercise individually :Match the picture of the place with the word in the box.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

*Point to the plan of the shopping mall and ask students to match the words in the box with the letters on the plan.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

*Ask Ss to look at the plan of the shopping mall and elicit suggestions for a good place for the group to meet from the class. * Ask Ss to use the new vocabulary and put each one in two different sentences.
