Technologies, Past Simple.

Description

In this lesson, students will be focusing mainly on past simple grammar based on an activity about technologies. The lesson starts with questions that students have to read and type their questions. It is a pre-assessment as well to find out what do students already now. Moving on to an activity for the ss to fill in Padlet (table with questions). More practice is given in class for past simple verbs for the ss.Ss share the information about invented technologies that they know. The writing activity comes in to ensure answers about various technologies. Last but not least, free practice related to the context is provided to examine the students' skills and to allow them to participate with each other.

Main Aims

  • To elicit Ss prior knowledge about technologies that they know and the way they use Past Simple tense.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice with Ss the ability to write different types of questions and answer them.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show a picture of an old phone on the display and ask: Concept check question: What is this thing? What does this phone remind you? How different is this phone compare to people modern once? How do you know? What are the technologies? Why do people use them?

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Students work individually or in pairs, they write questions on the sticky notes about technologies. What do they know and what do they want to know about various technologies.

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Students work in pairs. They ask their classmates the questions that wrote before. They need to ask at least 4-5 students.

Test #2 (15-20 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Students work individually or in pairs to fill in the questions about technologies on the Padlet, online website.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students choose 3-5 sentence about technologies they wrote , using the Past Simple tense and share with their classmates
