Description

In this lesson, Students will learn to use some verbs to talk about their themselves and their families.Then, they will discuss what they know about famous people and their families. Finally, they will write a caption about their family photo

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, Students will be better able to: use a lexical set of common verbs correctly. Use the present simple wh- questions correctly.

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, Students will be better able to practice reading skills ( Scanning / reading for detail)

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show the class a picture of me with my children. Ask them if they can guess their age. let them talk to each others in pairs about their families. Then, choose some of them to say what their peers have told them.

Vocabulary (10-12 minutes) • To expose Ss to the target vocabulary.

Individually, students match the sentences with the pictures. Check answers as a class. Highlight the preposition in each sentence.

Reading (5-8 minutes) • To help students practice their reading skills ( skimming- reading for details)

* Pre- teach some vocabulary like ( flat- expensive ) * while reading 1. ask the students to read the passage in 1 minute then answer question 2a. -Students check the answer in pairs. * While reading 2. Give the students two minutes to read the passage again then answer questions 2b. - Post reading. receive feedback from the students about Matt's life.

Grammar. (12-15 minutes) • To teach the students how to form wh question

Play the recording for the students to listen and complete the sentences. Check answers as a class. Students read the information in the Grammar Focus 4A on SB 118. Individually, complete exercise b. Monitor and point out errors for students to self correct. Check answers as a class. Tell students to go back to SB 33

Speaking. (10-12 minutes) • To allow the ss to us the TL in a free activity.

Divide the class into pairs and assign A and B. Students as go to SB 104. Students Bs go to 109. Give students two minutes to look at the map. Student A uses the questions to interview Student B, then they swap roles. Monitor and note down any common mistakes to deal with during feedback
