Description

In this lesson ss will know new lexis about things in the house /mirrow, desk, sofa, carpet, door, bookcase, window, floor, plant, coffee, table / and prepositions of place and improve the listening skills using the target language

Materials

Abc copies of the script
Abc balls
Abc hand out

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of the meaning of the everyday vocabulary which they use about things in the house
  • To learn and practice the prepositions of place

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide speaking practice in pairs

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3 minutes) • To provide quick revision of the time

to write 8 times and say to your partner, let him guess and write it down

Introducing new vocabulary set (10 minutes) • To meet the new words and start using them in the exercises

to find out which of words they know, to read them aloud to focus on pronunciation, to give pictures to the ss for an activity with new words to work in pairs and to do an ex at page 130 in the text book

Highlighting (7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the prepositions of time

To ask ss to match the pictures, then to check in pairs, to use the paper ball to play the game with prepositions and use 1 more exercise from the workbook

Clarification (5-6 minutes) • To clarify the target language

to write sentences with any 5 of the given words in the picture and to add the preposition and compare with your partners sentences, were they correct?

Controlled Practice (5 minutes) • To check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

to point at things in the picture and ask questions with "Whose"

Listening (5 minutes) • To produce listening in the context of family talk using new lexis

- to tick the things in the box - check with partner - 3 things are on the wrong place - try to find them - check with partner - answer the question - where is the baby - look at the script - underline the preposition of place

Free Practice (5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

look at the picture then cover it, take turn to ask your partner where the things are. where is Robbie's bag? It is by the door.
