Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of present simple in the context of Transportation

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a present simple in the context of Transportation

Procedure

Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Show the Ss a picture of you in the Transportation (Metro, your car,etc. ) and tell them how do you go to work, school ,..... etc. if you don't have pictures just google metro and show them the picture and say how do you go to work - Ask the Ss how do you go to school, work ,....... etc. - Nominate one or two Ss for demonstration and ask them - tell the Ss to speak with each other asking the question on the board (How do you go to ......?)

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • to introduce the Ss to the topics vocabulary

- Show the Ss pictures in the book pg 36 (it's preferable if you used the pictures on the screen you will find them down blow ) - Elicit (Drive - ride - take ) - Tell the Ss that they will listen to an audio - Chest the handout and tell the Ss write How do they go to their work or School - Play the audio - Monitor

Clarification (12-20 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- draw the time line of the present simple on the board * I drive to work * he rides his bike * my kids walk to school - Ask the Ss about the Sentences in the board * Do they do this action everyday ? - is it regular thing ? - clarify that this is the present simple (positive ) - write the Form on the board - CCQ ask the Ss - can I say he go to school by bus - can I say they drives their cars activity 1 - board race -- put the Ss into two teams -- tell the Ss you will run to the board and write a sentence on the present simple then give the marker to your friend in the line the team who finishes faster wins - play for 3 rounds - clarify the (Negative Form) - ask the Ss how can I make these sentences Negative - Elicit the form from the Ss - drill the sentences with the Ss and stress on (he,she and it ) take doesn't not don't - drill the word (Doesn't & don't ) in a sentence and highlight that we don't pronounce the T - Play the same again but negative sentences (same game in activity 1) - CCQ by telling the Ss wrong sentences and ask for correction - can I say He don't take the bus - I doesn't walk to school

Controlled Practice (3-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

- Chest activity A - Tell the Ss That you're going to answer this exercise - Demonstrate the First sentence - monitor - After the Ss finish tell them to check their answers - Feedback

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- Tell the Ss you're gonna ask each others (how do you go to school/ work and write your each other answer ) - ICQ your instructions and make sure that the Ss will not provide short answers * are you working alone or in pairs ? * will you answer (by bus ) or I go to school by buss ? * let the Ss answer - Feedback
