Description

In this lesson the students will go through new words about society and social issues, Then they will discuss for different social issues.

Materials

Abc Handout and special photoes relate to the words and a listening clip

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of the new words through description of their public problems which are made by people and the governments.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency in the context of The context will be about their situation in their society, the effects of government's decisions on peoples' life.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will be asked to talk about their problems which they think its reasons are inside the society they are living in. They will discuss about the reasons and the results.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The students will be shown some pictures which are related to the words on page 102 of the Student's books. We will have the elicitation of the new words that the students want to use them in their discussions.

Highlighting (5-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The teacher will ask the student's main problem in their life and the teacher will focus on different social problems and encourage the students to find the reason(s) of those problems. Here the students will describe those negative public issues from their own perspectives. Problems such as increasing tax, pollution, etc.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

After eliciting the words, the students will be shown the written form of the words that they might have problem with. The teacher will also write the phonetic of the words which are hard for the students to pronounce. The teacher should present other forms of a word if that word has. Written form of the words will be with choral and indvidual repetion.

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students will go through the questions on the page and they will discuss about their responses and share their ideas with each other. For this part after having pair discussion, the students again will talk about those mentioned problems with more

Free Practice (3-4 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Student can talk about different solutions for the public problems they have discussed about.
