To provide clarification of simple past of the verb "to be" using "there" in the context of objects
To provide practice of furniture and objects in the context of describing places
Procedure (44-50 minutes)
I will start my lesson by talking about the changes that happened in the classroom at the beginning of the session. I will ask students to give me examples of what changed.
I will then explain the use of "there was / were". Write the form on the board. Give positive, negative and question forms. Clarify the contraction form. I will give students an exercise to make sure they understood.
We will move then to the next exercise. Students will take time to answer it. Compare their answers. Check the answers on the back.
For more practice, students will answer the last exercise mixed with other verbs to make sure they understood the simple tense. Students take time to answer and compare their aswers with their partners. Correct the answers on the board.
I will move to freer practice. First activity show students some pictures for 30 sec and then tell me what they saw using the TL. Use 3 pictures. Students say as much as they can about what they saw Next activity, get some volunteers to get out of the class for a while. Make some changes in the room. And let each person guess the changes.
