Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of job adjectives in the context of work life

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice using jobs' adjectives in the context of work life


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- Show ss a picture of different people with different jobs and ask them 'what is this?' 2- Ask them 'do you think that all of these people have a well-paid job? 3- Ask ss 'What is your dream job? Why did you choose this job?' get ss to work in pairs.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

1- Chest the first exercise to ss. 2- Give them clear instructions not to stop whenever they find a difficult word. (If you find any difficult word are you going to stop? No, just continue to the next one) 3- Monitor the ss while doing the task.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

1- Introduce the new vocabulary words (part-time - full-time - rewarding - temporary - demanding - permanent - repetitive - stressful - glamorous) 2- Elicit the meaning and drill with ss. 3- Ask CCQs to check the meaning. 4- Write the new words on the board for ss to notice the form.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

1- Give ss a matching exercise that includes the new vocabulary. 2- Demo the first one with them. 3- Give ss instructions to work individually to complete the task. 4- Get ss to check in pairs. 5- Whole class feedback with key answers.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
