Description

In this lesson sts learn about how to write notes or messages. The lesson starts with reading some short notes and messages. This is followed by sts answering questions about them. Then, sts look at them again and notice the deletion of words. Then sts write the full form of these notes. Another activity is making sentences shorter. Finally, they read new situations and write shorter notes.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher sets the scene talking about messages sent by mobile phones or notes written on a fridge.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

The teacher first elicit words from the notes and messages. Students read some messages and notes written by other people and then scan the text to find certain information.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

The sts look at the texts and notice the different spelling. The teacher makes clarification.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Through exercises students practice using abbreviations. They work in pairs to answer the questions by deleting some words such as articles, pronouns and auxiliary verbs.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

The teacher takes their writing notes and provide them with feedback and the use of the language. The teacher writes mistakes on the board.
