Description

In this lesson, students learn vocabulary related to T.V and radio programs. T. elicits vocabulary items and sts work in pairs to discuss what T.V or radio programs they watch and decide what type of show are they. They also think of 4-5 recommendations they would make to change T.V or radio programs.

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a debate in the context of T.V and radio programs

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher asks questions about their favorite T.V and radio programs. Also, T. tells them about what he saw yesterday with a lot of details with a video clip about it.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T. provide a model of production by watching some video clips from 'youtube'.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T highlights and clarify the following words / phrases: documentary, reality show, sitcom, soap opera, weather forecast and murder show. T. also brainstorm some vocabulary. T. elicits and drills vocabulary.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students work in pairs or groups to discuss and recommend ways to improve or change T.V programs. They also read their recommendations.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

The teacher write some of students' mistakes either they are pronunciation (such as pronouncing the 'th' correctly) and their use of language.
