Main Aims

  • To provide listening practice for ss using T5.7 about space tourism.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking about space and space tourism in the world.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I am going to start my lesson by playing a Chinese whispering game or guessing game for effective vocabulary in my lesson. This game will help me to present the effective vocabulary well and engage ss to the lesson. If there are difficult words in the vocabulary, I will help ss to elicit the meaning for these words.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-I will start talking with learners about their past dreams and these dreams came true or not. -I ask them about space and how to go there, is it difficult now to go,and how much money we'll pay if we want to go there. -I will let them read a short paragraph about a man called Steve Bennet Who is interested in space and travel to space. -After reading, I will ask them questions about this man and what he dreams of.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

-Ss will be asked to listen to T5.7. -I will repeat it again as it is quite long and has many details. -Ss will be asked to answer the questions after listening for the second time. -They will answer these questions in PW. -I will be monitoring them and if they need help, more clues will be given to them. -Learners will be asked to listen to the T5.7 again then they will answer questions according to their opinions about this practice.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

-I will project a slide to teach how we can use pretty as an adverb in informal spoken English -Ss will be asked to answer questions using the word pretty as an adverb. -They are going to work in pairs. -They will be asked to answer the questions in page 41 to use the adverb of pretty. -I will be monitoring them to observe their errors during speaking.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- -I will project pictures about different places -Ss will be asked to speak about the places where they can spend their holidays -They will speak about the reasons for choosing to these places. -They can speak about space tourism and how useful it is. -I will write some sentences which have their errors during the lesson -They will be asked to find these errors and try to correct them.
