Description

This lesson addresses how functional,grammatical and categories of reported speech in the context of real life activities.The focus is on the standard use of reported speech which enables student to summarise or report life events.

Main Aims

  • To improve students ability on the practical use of reported speech in the context of reading and speaking.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice more speaking ,reading on the target language and guessing vocabulary from the expression.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher start by elicitation of the summary of the text from the previous lesson and the student work in pairs to the summarize and teacher gets feedback from each and then as wholeclass.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Continuing from the warm up teacher hands out the photocopied material to the students and they work in pairs in to put the summary of the previous text in the correct order .they will do this by reading the sentences and write numbers 1,2,3 and so on the sentences a, b, c...untıl they finish the questions

Semi-Controlled Practice (10-25 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

At this stage students will play game . the teacher writes some sentences on slips puts them in a small container on the table in front of the classroom and divides students into two groupsand gıve each group some slıps wıth a word each .One student will come out from a group and take one slıp to read the sentence ,the student in his/her group says what ıt mean from the slıps they have wıth them to score a point ıf ıt ıs correct,if is not correct,. student from the second will say the word to get a point.The game will continue in this manner

free practice (5-10 minutes)

Students mingle among themselves say different sentences and others guess the meaning.
