Main Aims

  • To provide students with listening practice for the gist (skimming) and details (scanning) and fuller comprehension.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To present and give practice with vocabulary related to the topic. To present vocabulary that is essential for understanding the task. To integrate listening into speaking and writing skills.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • Create interest in the topic

1 elicit students a paper with a sentence written on it 2 ask student a to read the sentence and and draw a picture based n the sentence 3 student a then folds down the paper to that the sentence ih hidden and next student should write a sentence based on students a picture 3 isqs (do you write anything on drawings? no) (do you see all the students sentences and drawings? no) 4 teacher unfold the paper and show students the prgression

Pre Listening (3-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1 present vocabulary that is essential for understanding the listening (first impression:impression: idea or opinion that first comes to mind about what something or some one is like) 3 ccqs: do you get the idea after a lond time? no is it always true? no 2 ask the students to guess the subject of listening.

While Listening #1 (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information

1 play the audio for the students and ask them the first listening question mentioned in the book about charlotte meeting alexander 2 ask students to write down the adjectives they remember charlotte using 3 play the audio once more and ask them the second listening question about adjectives that chalotte mentioned (since they already write down those adjectives they only check them)

While-Reading/Listening #2 (2-4 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging listening tasks

play the next audio for students and ask them the questions mentioned in the book

Post-Reading/Listening (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Have the students tell their own stories and ask them what is a deal breaker personality for them when they want to date someone in pairs point out the mitakes they made after the end of speaking
