Description

After asking CCQs and talking about pictures the T will write 3 sentences using different markers above the pictures on the board and, she will ask some questions to clarify the meaning of the sentences.

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a short story in the context of a busy day

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The T will ask one of the ss to attach the pictures on the board

Exposure (7-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

then, the T will start saying a story about the first picture using the grammar in her speech and after that she will elicit other stories about other pictures from the ss.

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The T will ask the ss to make some examples in the same situation.

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

After asking CCQs and talking about pictures the T will write 3 sentences using different markers above the pictures on the board and, she will ask some questions to clarify the meaning of the sentences. After that the T will elicit the form and the formula of each sentence from ss. e.g: subject+ get+ object+ infinitive of the verb+ … subject+ make/have+ object+ base form of the verb+ … Then the T will write an example on the board and the WC will have a backward repetition.

Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

After presentation of the grammar ss will do a practice individually. The T will give the ss capital and small letters of the alphabet and then the ss will sit in pairs and check their answers with their partner.

Semi-Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

The ss will sit in the same pairs and the T will give a HO to each pair, then the WC will describe the pictures in the HOs together and after that the ss will fill the blanks with their partner. The WC will check the answers together.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

At this stage the T will write the ss’ names on small pieces of paper and put them in a box and after that she will ask some volunteers to be the group leaders. The leaders choose some names according to the number of ss and after that the ss and the leaders will sit in their groups. Ss will have a little discussion about their busiest day ever and then they will write a short story in the context of a busy day. Then the groups will change their writings with each other and after checking and correction they will give marks to each other. The group with the highest mark will be the winner and they will get stickers as a gift.
