Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a survey in the context transport

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification, practice and review of language used for asking and answering in the context of transport


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask Ss to tell their partners how they go from ITI to the airport? w/c feedback

Preparing to speak (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through a matching activity

Give Ss six questions and answers to match. (HO1) Peercheck w/c feedback

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Project the useful language and work on the meaning and pronunciation

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Put Ss in groups of 3 Give Ss a survey task with 6 questions. Ask them to add two more questions. Say: now ask the people in the group the questions. Monitor for good language and errors One person from each group reports back to the class about their group mates.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I write the good language used by Ss on the w/b and praise them I write the errors made by Ss on the w/b and ask Ssif they can correct the errors w/c feedback
