Description

In this lesson student will learn adverbs of frequency and asking and answering questions with "How often" through a listening text in the context of housework. They then do a speaking survey task as a freer practice.

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Give ss HO1 with photos of 4 items of housework. In pairs ss discuss which activity they do and which they don't. w/c feedback

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a listening text

Give ss HO2. Say: Listen and complete the table.Who does the activity? (ICQ) Play the audio track 1.64 Ss listen and complete the table w/c feedback (projecting the HO and write answers on the board)

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Give ss the listening script. Show HO3 (the listening script.) Say: Find the words in the box in the text and underline them. w/c feedback(projected on the board)

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Clarify the MFP of adverbs of frequency

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Give ss a survey task. Say: look at the picture. Use the words in the picture. Make questions with "How often" Ss work alone making questions with "How often" using the clues in the picture. allow 4 mins Monitoring peercheck Put Ss in groups of 3 or 4. Now ask and answer the questions. Make notes of the answers. allow 4 mins. Monitoring and taking notes of good language and errors. One student from each group reports. Error correction
