In this lesson, students learn about the preposition of time through PPP. The lesson starts with a warmer (the days of the week ). There will be some listening and speaking practices via gap fill or conversation activity in the context of English every day.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of prepositions of time in the context of every day English

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of days of the week in the context of every day English
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of every day English


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

stage1 )T will use a video and sing with students. T will hand in ex 1 SS will order the days of the week. After eliciting answers next step T will drill the days of the week.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ss will work in their pairs. They will ask questions from ex2. FB Ss will check answers in their groups. W/C FB

Highlighting (4-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ss will listen to an adopted material from the coursebook. They will fill the gaps in the script. FB teacher will ask students prepositions. T will hand in answers. Students will play a game which about matching prepositions with time.

Clarification (9-11 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Teacher elicits answers with CCQ. T will clarify the usage of the prepositions.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will do Ex 3 to practice. FB teacher will elicit the answers from the students and clarify and correct students.

Semi-Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

SS will write correct prepositions in Ex 4 . Then will speak with the partner. FB teacher will elicit the answers and observe the students while they are speaking. The teacher will give immediate feedback while students speaking If necessary.

Free Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this stage of the lesson, Ss will talk about themselves while using prepositions. FB T will elicit the answers to fill gaps. Students will talk with the partner and teacher will give W/C feedback for some common error.
