In this lesson student will practice writing an email to arrange a trip. They will read an example email, understand how request forms work and use them in their email.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will write a chain story "The worst summer vacation ever!". Teacher will give the first sentence, and others will finish the story in groups.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Students will be given the reading questions (4). They should read the email and answer the questions. Check the answers with the pair and check with the whole group. They will read it once again and find example of requests in the email. Check with a pair . FB-key provided

Useful Language (10-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Ss work in groups of 2. One pair has the beginning of the sentence, the other one has the ending. They should find their pairs. V-2. If there are no enough students, it will be a matching exercise in pairs. FB - Ss tell their answer, T writes on the board. Explanation of form. Could you, I wonder if you, would it. Ss complete the sentences with the phrases and words from the box. Individually, then check with a pair. WGFB-oral, from volunteers or ss who weren't participating. Highlight the phrases in the text that help tot create a letter or show the format of the letter in pairs. Example: from, to. Join with other pair and discuss.

Productive Task(s) (20-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Read the email from Kate to Silvia and write Silvia's reply. 3min True false: Silvia offered to fins her a transport when Kate arrives to Cape Town. Kate is looking for an inexpensive hotel close to the mountains. She wants to go scuba diving with Silvia. FB- On the board Writing a reply. 15 min. Read each others in groups and choose the best one.
