Procedure (45-12 minutes)
To get ss attention, draw some boxes on the board demonstrating prepositions of places. Ask students:where is the ball? Elicit some the answers from students.
Wrirte one example on the board e.g: I live in a house e.g:It is next to the river. underline the preposition and the noun ,elicit answers from students. Do prepositions come before / after the nouns ? underline them. Ask ss to look back at the descriptions of houseswap on page 32. Ss underline all prepositions of place and the nouns that follow them
Write some sentences to work on. e.g:There is a big house behind the bank. e.g:I live close to the city center. back chaining,drilling and checking the intonation. divide a board in to three parts:in ,on ,at make a group of 4 and ask ss to stick flash cards under each prepositions which suits best.
SS sit in their previous group, Project the simple map on the board. Ask ss: 1.where is the school? The school is opposite the big house. 2.where is the car park?The car park is behind the university. Ss ask each other questions and answer in their groups.Ask ss to write 5 questions. stick the flash cards on the board (they may forget the prepositions). After finishing ask ss to ask one of their questions from another group,the whole group must answer,they answer and and ask their questions from another group. choral drill / solo drill check which one is correct :at home /in home on school / at school at work / on work on university / at university again choral drill for correct phrases. Draw the picture of girl and boy on the board showing the difference between 'in front of and opposite. Elicit answers from ss.
Ss do ex. 2 p 33 St.B alone. check their answers with their partner. check with the class. Ss do ex. 3 WB in pairs. check the answers with the whole class. Ss do ex.4 WB alone Chech with th epartner / tell the class.
Ask ss to answer ex.3 p 33 SB alone ,in pairs each partner must read their sentences from ex.3,and their partner must guess who they are describing . Give ss a cardboard with sentences written in it,ask them to make a map based on asentences. After finishing swap papers between pairs,ss check their friends' map.
