Main Aims

To provide clarification of articles in the context of best countries for expatriates

Subsidiary Aims

To provide clarification of global citizen in the context of best countries for expatriates
To provide scan and gist reading practice using a text about best countries for expatriates

Procedure (45-59 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

To elicit the word "expatriate" or to pre-teach using PPT slide. To give a glimpse of the background of the lesson i.e. best countries to expatriate.

Exposure (vocab. pre-teach) (7-10 minutes) • To provide a glimpse of the context and to make upcoming exercises more comprehensible through vocabulary pre-teach

Pre-teach difficult vocabulary using Quizlet. Collective drilling of the vocabulary.

Reading (8-10 minutes) • To understand the context better, reading (scan and gist reading).

Distribute the text, Students will be instructed to answer questions (MCQs) in the prescribed time limit, Students will get handouts having true and false and MCQs, Feedback, answer check.

Grammar (Presentation) (7-10 minutes) • To change the focus to the target language, to introduce the articles using instances from the text and to present the rules.

Show the text on the board using an overhead projector, Underline some articles in the text, Tell students how to use articles (distribute rulings H/Os), Explain rules related to the usage of articles.

Semi-Controlled Practice 1 (10-12 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for the usage of articles with ease.

Divide teams into pairs, Instruct students to visit kahoot.it and get ready for more practice, Play a semi-controlled game with students, Feedback after every question.

Semi-controlled Practice 2 (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for more meaningful practice

Divide students in pairs, Give instruction for the fill in the blanks activity and distribute the H/Os (Different H/Os for each partner), Make students fill in blanks in the given time limit (without showing their H/O to the other partner, Answer check (fill in the blanks), Now, make students read their sentences to the other partner in order to get the facts checked (True and false), Feedback and conclusion.
