In this lesson students will practice and improve their speaking and listening skills by being exposed to a video about hobbies .

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of hobbies .

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a video about hobbies .


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Tell the students about my hobbies and why i like them. ask students if they have any hobbies ? Ask them why they like this hobby ?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

Ask the students to listen carefully to a video about hobbies give the students handout 1 which is a gab fill practice about some spacific information stated in the video . after the video i will ask the satudents some questions about the two speakers of the video .

Useful Language (5-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Elicit language used to ask about hobbies , like : do you have any hobbies ? why do you like this hobby ? what is another hobby of yours ? when do you practise your hobby ? where do you practice your hobby ? do you practice your hobby individually or with someone ? Elicit some words like spare , leisure , fascinating .

Productive Task(s) (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

draw a circle on the boared with the word hobby and draw arrows with some key words i want the students to use . divide the students into pairs ask tham to ask and answer some questions about hobbies .

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

ask students if their partners used the questions for hobbies ? ask the students if thay used different questions about hobbies ?
