Teaching vocabulary about appearance
To provide clarification and practice of The words about Appearance in the context of listening about Rubbery
To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Describing a person's appearance .
Procedure (36-47 minutes)
Show students a Blur picture of a person and ask them to talk in pairs if it is a he or she ? why ? make them try to describe the face . have a short feed back of their answer . show them real photo , compare the real answers .
tell Ss story about two old woman that were witnesses of a rubbery , ask Ss to look at the pictures on the board and guess who is the thief and the possible reasons in pairs .
play the listening (the gist question is : who is the thief ?) and ask for the feed back
elicit the vocabulary meaning using images on power point slides , check the concept using pictures and miming , then drill the pronunciation and form them on the board , male examples for each one and work on the intonation .
ask Ss to match the vocabulary in the worksheet and check the answer in pairs. give them the answers on the board
Give Ss some cards containing new and also old vocabulary abouy appearance , Show 4 pictures on the slide and ask Ss to look at the pictures and stick the related card to the pictures , asking ICQs . then the Other ones check the answers while making sentences with the new vocabulary .
show Ss the photo of my family and describe them as a model for the freer practice and ask Ss to show each other the photo of their families and try to describe them . giving feed back in different papers to have peer correction. giving Ss handouts to practice at home .
