Description

in this lesson, Ss learn to give information about their favorite restaurant by writing a paragraph about it. They will practice extracting specific information form some pictures then they will be given a sample to get them ready for writing a paragraph.

Main Aims

  • To provide process and produce writing practice of a letter about favorite restaurants and detailed information. in the context of food and restaurant

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review, practice and clarification of making food and ingredients in the context of food

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Before asking any questions some pictures of different types of restaurants with titles written above them will be shown to the Ss to practice the word "Types". and to give a context of different types of restaurants. then I am going to ask the Ss to first share their ideas then answer two questions in exercise 1a on page 58 of Cutting edge book. this activity will be done in a GROUP.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading

In this stage, Ss will extract some specific information from a restaurant card and fill in a brief information form. they will be asked to take a look at the wanted information then they should do the exercise and share their answers. finally, correct answers will be on WB by the T.

Pre-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading

The Ss will focus on specific information in the picture of a food menu so that they keep them in mind to do a fill-in gap exercise. they will be asked to match food ingredients with the names to complete the menu. this activity will be done in a GROUP. T will check their result at the end and they will drill and practice correct answers together.

While-Reading & Post-Reading (2-3 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading

The Ss will be given some words on the WB and the Ss should use them to do the fill-in gap exercise. this activity will be done in a GROUP. T will monitor and correct possible mistakes.

Productive Task(s) (7-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

the Ss will be handed a sample writing about "my favorite" restaurant and giving short information about it. they will have time to write a paragraph in the shape of an email to a friend to talk about their favorite restaurants.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

After writing their email the Ss will share them in a WALL WALK activity so that they can see each other's work and to correct any possible mistakes together. T will also monitor their writings and will do the necessary corrections.
