Description

In this lesson, students identify different types of transport.They also understand how to use there was/were and negative type of them for talking about things in the past. Student learn about past time expressions and how using some/lots of/any with there was/were or there wasn't/weren't.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of there was/were and past time expressions in the context of transports

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher shows student some photos about types of transport and ask students if they know the name of them. If they don't know, teacher tells them the name of that photos. Teacher want student to repeat the name of each photos after her. Do part1 in class.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

At first teacher teaches new worlds of lesson to Sts. Teacher ask student to listen part2.Then ask student to read conversation in pair or in group. teacher ask some questions about each photo of reading.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Teacher ask students to find some transports and say them. Teacher ask students to underline words there was/were in part2 and write 2-3 of sentences with there was/were.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Teacher teaches grammar.(use page 54 of Grammar Friends 3) Then teacher ask one of students to read part2 of page81.(student's book) Ask student to do part3 in pair.Teacher must do number one for sts to understand how to do it.Teacher monitoring to know sts understand grammar and solve if there is any problem.

Controlled Practice (8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Teacher ask students to do part4 in pair.Then check the answer and ask some question about the photo or sentences in part4. students do part1 of Grammar friends 3 in group.teacher writes answer on the board for them to check their answers.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students do part2 of grammar book by theme selves and check their answers with other classmates.then teacher give them answer key to check. Students do part5 in pair to understand how to use past time expressions.Write answers on the board for them to check.
