Description

In this lesson, the students will learn the use of like +( verb + -ing). They will learn how to talk about things they like or don't like doing.

Materials

Abc Student's Book

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of like + (verb+ -ing)

Subsidiary Aims

  • To get the students to speak using today's lesson.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher will show Ss different pictures that will describe what she likes, hates, don't like etc...

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a situation

Ss will do a quick exercise where they will have to rank the words given to them. Ss discuss in pairs. T monitors.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To check the Ss understanding of TL

Ss do an exercise where they have to write sentences using the form of TL. Ss work in two groups.

Clarification (3-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T explains the form, pronounciation and meaning of TL. T explains the 3 different kind of verbs to which we add -ing.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss do an exercise where they have to put each verb in its right category. Ss discuss in pairs. T monitors.

Free practice (3-6 minutes) • Involve and give Ss the opportunity to produce TL.

Ss talk to each other about what they love, like, don't mind etc...
