Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson, students will be able to speak about different transportation methods.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Listening: Students will be exposed to listening tasks; in order to be prepared for the speaking activity.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-Students will have a list of transportation methods and they have to place them under the correct category (Land/water/Air) -Students will come up to the board to put them under the correct title (they will have the list printed out) -Teacher's feedback

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

pre-teach: ferry, coach, tram, submarine -Teacher will elicit meaning, form -Drill effectively Listening task:- -Students will do Q 4a and b -Students will discuss answers in pairs -Teacher's feedback and Answer keys

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

-Students will solve Q 2A -Students will discuss answers in pairs -Teacher's feedback and Answer key Clarification:- (Using pictures) When do we go by plane? When we are travelling to another place Why? this is because it is the fastest mean of transportation When do we go by car? When we are going to a place that is far,but in the same country (we can use it for travelling, but it is slow) When do we go on foot? When the place is close to the place where we live (short distance)

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

-Students will have to answer 5 questions -Students will be divided to pairs and each pair will take one question -Students will keep exchanging till they finish the 5 questions -Teacher's feedback

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-Teacher will take notes from previous tasks -Teacher will write sentences on the board -Teacher will ask students if the sentences are correct or wrong -Students will correct the wrong sentences
