Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of present simple in the context of daily life

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of daily life.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start the lesson by showing the students my daily routine. I will stick the pictures on the board.

Exposure (3-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will choose one sentence (I wake up every day at 8:00). I will also draw a timeline and show them when the actions start and end.

Highlighting (4-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will draw a table and stick the verbs on the board with their positive form.

Clarification (5-6 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

the students will get two sets of cards and they will say whether the sentences they chose "randomly" were correct or not. They will then try to find the right sentences in pairs.

Highlighting 2 (6-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Then I will go back to the table and try to elicit the negative and the question form with the students.

Controlled Practice (10-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will give the students a sheet of paper with different practices that they will have to answer according to the grammar they learned in the class. The students will check their partner's worksheet and then we will have whole class feedback.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Individually, the students will write at least 3 sentences about their daily routines. I will take the papers, scramble them and give them to the students again. they will have to tell me about their partners' sentences using (he, she). On the spot error correction.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will divide the class into groups each group will have three students, they will have a sheet of paper and a dice. each student will roll the dice for once and choose the card, read it out loud and answer it. I will monitor the class while the students are doing the activities and I will take notes of their correct and wrong sentences on a paper and then write them on the board so everyone can get to know their mistakes and the correct answers.
