Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I show the students a picture of a country house. before showing them, I set a question, " what is this ? what kind of house is it? have you every been in a country house? why are some people prefer the life in the country side more than cities - I ask the students to discuss the question together. - I monitor to check that they all are engaged and for support. - I elicit the students' answers

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible and remove blocking vocabulary items

-I chest the handouts and give instructions for the task," the the following list of words and match them with the correct definition - I monitor for any one in need and taking notes for feedback - the students check their answer in pair - I give them the model answers. - I check their understanding to the meaning, form and pronunciation of the vocab items.

reading for gist and scanning for specific information (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

-I give the students photocopies of the text. - I ask them to read the summery on the back cover the book and elicit the overall idea of the story. -I monitor for assistance - the students check their ideas together. - I elicit the main idea from them I -set second task - I chest the handouts and give instructions, " Now, we have 7 sentences. read the text carefully, then decide if these sentences are true or false - I do a demo with them (answering the first one with them) - I check to sure that their are on the right task and they all are engaged - I ask them to check their answer in pairs then hand them the models answers - I give a feedback for this task

While-/Listening 1 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed listening tasks

- I chest the handouts and set the task 3 " Now, we will listen to the rest of the dialogue between the inspector and Mr. Traver's family, then complete the table - I do a demo with them - the students work in in groups. - they check their answers with the other groups. - I hand them the model answers - feedback
