To teach Ss the difference between the 5 degree modifiers "A bit, quite, very, really, incredibly" ,and when we use them.
To get the Ss to form sentences using the modifiers.
Procedure (33-45 minutes)
Teacher uses slideshow to introduce the target language to Ss.
Teacher gives student quick practice to check their understanding. Ss discuss in pairs.
Teacher asks Ss "how delicious is doner for you?" Ss answer individually.
Teacher explains when to use modifiers to Ss and how to pronounce them, then gives them a quick fill in the blanks exercise. Ss work in pairs.
Teacher demonstrates then asks Ss to work in pairs and ask each other questions.
Teacher divides students into teams. Teacher puts five cards face down on the floor , each one containing one of the five modifiers. A person from each team has to choose one card and make correct a sentence using the modifier in there. The team that comes up with the most sentences wins.
