Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows Ss a clip that shows kids playing in the playground unsupervised. Another clip of kids at home being supervised while using the computer or a smart phone. The two video clips are about 20 seconds each. Then Ss are asked to discuss in pairs the differences between the kids in the two clips, what they think about these kids' parents and what advice could be given to both types of parents. Ss are given 4 minutes to finish the discussion. Then, T gets feedback from each pair.

Pre-teach Vocab (4-8 minutes) • To eliminate the blocking vocabulary

To further prepare for the text, Ss work in pairs to match the words with their definitions, which that will be vital for the general understanding of the text. After Ss finish the task, T gets feedback and corrects errors. (Sedentary – lifestyle - Self-esteem - Unsupervised - Self-regulation – Resilience) T drills vocabulary and shows stress pattern.

While-Reading #1 (4-7 minutes) • To read for gist.

- T gives Ss clear instructions about the task. Ss are given two minutes only to read for gist; they decide on the most suitable title for the reading text by choosing from multiple choices. Ss work alone first, then they check answers with a partner. Next, T gets feedback.

While-Reading #2 (10-15 minutes) • To scan the text for specific information

- T tells SS to read the whole passage again . - T gives clear instructions " Mark the following statements with ‘True’ or ‘False - T asks to check in pairs their answers. - T gives the SS the Feedback.

Post-Reading (8-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T divides the SS into groups of three and they have to jot down some notes whether they prefer children to take risks or not. Ss take 3-5 minutes to prepare for the discussion. Ss try to persuade each others of their opinions by giving reasons as a discussion style or a debate.
