Description

In this lesson, students learn about the adjectives of personality. At first, they are asked to remember the adjectives they have learnt in the reading. Its is followed by some controlled practices via some role pay and pair work to produce adjectives by adding prefixes.

Abc Gap-fill handout, face emojis, dictionary

Main Aims

  • To provide practice and review of personal adjectives in the context of Vocabulary and Exercises

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of new adjectives in the context by adding prefixes. And to provide practice of speaking based on the vocabulary and Exercise.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. Ask them some questions about the adjectives they learnt in the previous session: * who was tidy and responsible? *who was untidy and rebellious? * which one is positive? * do you know the meaning of the adjectives? * would you use any of these adjectives?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

show them some emojis about the different feelings and ask them: 1. What personalities are each of the emojis? (one by one) 2. In two groups ,Ss are asked to divide positive and negative ones.

Highlighting (2-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

they are asked to pair one adjective with its opposite one. Ask them to attend to the pair of adjectives they found and what is the difference between them. How they were produced.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Give out handout 1. In pairs, students fill in the banks with the appropriate adjectives. After they finished, they listen to the audio to check their answer. they close their eyes and try to remember the adjectives they wrote. they repeat the adjectives with the right stressed syllable.

Semi-Controlled Practice (4-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Activity 2 In pair works, they match the adjectives with their prefixes to produce opposite adjectives. After that they listen to the audio file and check their answer. they are learnt about the stress of prefixes.

Free Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

learners work in groups to find the rule of adding prefix.

They close their books and write three adjective about themselves and do not show them to the others. he/she give them some clue by saying its opposite. they do the practice page 104(how awful! how fantastic!) they share their answer to the others and react
