Description

In this lesson, students will learn how to talk about different type of foods served in various restaurants via two listening activities. it starts with a matching activity on different types of food. Upon completion of the task, they do the first listening and number the pictures based on their mentioning. As the second listening activity, they will try to find more details regarding each mentioning. And as the free practice, they play the role of an interviewer and a chef and practice speaking.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T plays a short video clip and indirectly elicits the topic

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ss , in pairs, ask and answer the questions in the book following a model answer provided by theteacher

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Teacher introduces the task and checks if Ss are familiar with the new vocabularies. She, then, gives the instruction followed by some ICQs. students listen to the audio for the first time and number the pictures based on that ( listening for the gist). then they come to the board and provide the answers there. feedback is collected.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Students listen to the audio for the second time and provide more detailed information on their previous answers. It is followed by feedback.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Teacher assigns some role plays to the students as chefs and interviewers. they ask each other more general questions on food, then they swap their roles
