Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of how is your life different now from ten years ago?
  • To provide practice of( used to) in the context of changes

Procedure

Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- write changes on the board and ask the students when you hear this word what comes to your mind first....something you want to change or something changed and you want to get it back ??? -Tell the students about me i want to change that i trust people easily - Ask them what would you like to change?? -put them into pairs check the ideas as a class

pre-listening (7-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-Ask the students do you like languages? i like English so much and i wanted to study it but 10 years ago i was studying Arabic and Islamic studies and i entered the college because my father wanted me to enter so i hated it but after that i started to like it So i used to hate Arabic but now i don't -Ask ccqs did i hate Arabic in the beginning? do i still hate it ? so it's kind of changes

While-Listening #1 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Tell the students they are going to hear someone comparing her life now with her life 10 years ago,ask them to circle the topics she talks about ,play the record and check their answers as a class.

While-Listening #2 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

Ask the students to listen again and take notes about the topics she says have changed in the last 10 years and check their answers in pairs

Post-Listening (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Ask the students how is your life different now from 10 years ago? using some of the topics in the box in the previous task,give them 5 minutes and they can speak freely as a class
