Main Aims

Procedure

lead-in (3-6 minutes) • To set the lesson context and engage students

- I write the following question on the board for discussion. " Do you prefer following news on the newspaper websites or reading printed ones? why? - the students discuss in pairs. - I monitor to check that all the students are involved. - I elicit their answers

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I write the question on the board and ask the students to discuss it and say why "Do you follow the news on the newspaper website or read printed ones? why?" - the students discuss in pairs - I monitor the students to check they are engaged - The students check their answers. -I elicit the students' answer. - I set the context. before read and check your answers, these are some vocabulary from the reading text to check at first. - I give them written on handouts and ask them to match the vocabulary with the correct definition. - I monitor the Ss' engagement, and then I ask them to check their answers. - I give them the model answers. - I show Ss pictures of these vocabulary items for more clarification - I drill the vocabulary items. highlighting - I set the first task: I ask the students to read only 4 of the paragraphs then match them to the correct headline. - I hand out photocopies - Ss work individually - I monitor to help students in need and to make sure that they all are engaged. - Ss check their answer in closed groups. - I nominate students and elicit answers.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- I ask the students to pair: - I chest the handouts and give instructions" read the sentences in exercise 1 and then answer the questions in the Analysis box below. - I monitor for help and make sure they are engaged. - I hand the students the model answer and ask them to check their theirs in pairs. - I write the answers on the board and ask the Ss to elicit the passive forms for each tense. - I clarify to Ss when to use the passive form " we use the passive when the subject is obvious, unknown or unimportant. give relevant examples. - I do the drilling with the students for in case of any mispronunciation.

Controlled Practice (3-4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

- I chest the task and give instructions, "now, read the article and circle the correct verb form." - I hand out photocopies. (Appendix 2) -I do a demo with them. - I ask the students to do the task individually. - I monitor to check Ss are all engaging in the exercise and to help students in need. - I give them the model answer to check their answers

Free Practice (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- I set the Ss in groups. - I chest the task 3 and give instruction, " look at the picture and write a news story. the Ss have to use the passive form. - I hand out the pictures. - I monitor to check for anyone in need. -After finishing the writing task, the students share their story. - I check for any error correction
