In this lesson, I will give the students reading for gust task, and they will also read the text for detailed comprehension. They will understand the meaning of vocabulary through text while reading. and finally, we will have a discussion of the topic in general

Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about How busy life is.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a How busy life is.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will tell the students that since I've started the CELTA I don't have time to do my favorite things. For example, when I go home I have to write an assignment or sleep, so I don't have time to watch my favorite Tv Show.

Pre-Reading/ (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

What about you, what is the thing that you don't have time for anymore? why you don't have time for it? Discuss with your friend/ share it with the class.

While-Reading/ Reading for gist (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

the students will have to read the text for one minute and they will have to match the titles with the paragraphs.

While-Reading/ vocabulary through text (9-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I will divide the class into 3 groups They will have to read the text again and decide what the highlighted vocabulary mean. (4 min) I will divide the class into 3 groups will then give each group 6 pieces of papers with the vocabulary on them and 8 pieces of papers with their meanings, however, two of the meanings are extra and they need to be careful when the match the meaning with the vocabulary. (4 min) for the feedback, they will have to stick the vocabulary with their meanings on the whiteboard (2 min)

reading task 2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed reading

The students read the text carefully and find the invented piece of information in the text.

reading task 3 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with another challenging reading task

In pairs, they will have to look at the headings of the paragraphs, and they will try to remember the information in the text.

post reading/ Discussion and feedback (9-10 minutes) • To provide the students with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they have learned

The students will have a set of questions and the need to answer the questions with, often, sometimes, and never. 1 point for never 2 points for sometimes 3 points for often they will count the score and tell the class whether they're living in the slow land, the medium pace of life or living life in the fast lane. While monitoring I will write any mistake I can hear and correct it with the whole class.
