Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of different colours, fruit and two prepositions-in and on- in the context of daily routines for pupils,

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and specific information about colours and fruit by using realia and real life situations to model target language.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will pop into the class by waving and saying 'hello' to students. Then, I will tell my name with the voice going up: ZAfer, ZAfer, ZAfer... Later, I will sing a song- red, yellow, blue and green. And then I will drill them on the song I initially sang.

Exposure (2-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will bring some materials for the target language, show them to students

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

In this part, I will bring a box full of different coloured fruits, invite a pupil on stage, ask him/her to choose one and say what it is in her/his hand. After that, I will drill the rest of the students on it a couple of times.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

To clarify the meaning, I will bring a carton showing fruits and their names.

Controlled Practice (2-3 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice, I will do the first two exercises, the rest will be don by the pupils.
