Description

In this lesson students will learn some vocabulary related to health. The lesson starts with lead in stage to engage Ss and make them interested.Then the teacher introduces his lesson using Test Teaching Test technique . The follow up stage will be a discussion between students to practice the target language .

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson, students will have practiced using some vocabulary items in the context of health and surgery .

Subsidiary Aims

  • providing listening practice in the context of health and surgery .

Procedure

Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher shows a picture of some surgeons in an operation theatre and asks students the following questions. Where are they ? who are they ? what are they doing ? Then, the teacher asks Ss to work in pairs to discuss these questions ? after finishing they give answers of the questions . The teacher doesn't correct errors or interfere with their answers as the lead in stage aim is to engage students.

Exposure to target language .Highlighting of form . (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text where they will notice language in context

Students would be asked to look at exercise 7A before listening . Then they would listen to a recording . They would work individually at first then they check answers

Test #1 (7-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

I will give students some handouts contain words in one column and their definitions in another column. Then I will ask them to work individually to match the words with their definitions. After that, students will check their answers in pairs .

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test
