Description

In this lesson, students will learn about vocabulary related to rooms and things in the house. The lesson will start with a visual introduction so students can brain storm and elicit words related to the topic.This will be followed by two tasks that will be set as group activities so the students will be motivated and focused during the lesson.

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson, Ss will have a better understanding of the targeted vocabulary related to things in the house.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Ss will be able to use that language in different sentences or to describe a place.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Tell Ss that my uncle lives in the Uk and he decided to spend his vacation in Cairo. He asked me to look for a furnished flat so he could rent it for a month. I searched on line and found this Advert. Display Advert Elicit answers for Ex.1

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Divide students into 3 groups. Hand in Activity paper ( word , definition , facilities ) Demo ( Bathroom) paper. Each group displays his answer and check other groups answers. Monitor. Display answer key.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Display picture p.58 ( Flat plan) Elicit vocabulary .Check meaning . Drill :groups , individually , chorally Write: form , stress

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Hand in Ex. 7B Tell instructions Demo no.2 + ICQS Tell Ss to do it individually. ( 3 minutes) * tell them about the (hidden word: washing machine) Discuss and check answers in pairs. Monitor.take notes. Hand in answer key

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Swap groups. In pairs, tell Ss to describe to each other their houses or flats. Demo.Encourage students to use" there is " or " there are" Monitor. Take notes. Choose some students to tell want his/her partner said. Who has the best memory? Write errors on the board.Take feed back.
