Description

This lesson will focus on the vocabulary furniture and different rooms.I will combine it with there is\ are grammar construction and in the production phase we will do vocabulary exercises and speaking activities.

Procedure

Lead in (3-5 minutes) • To Introduce the topic

I will ask the students where and how they live. How many rooms their houses or apartments have.

Inroducing grammar and vocabulary (5-7 minutes) • To elicit passive knowledge of vocabulary and grammar

I will show a picture on the WB with the projector.A living room with different pieces of furniture.I will try to elicit the vocabulary by asking what this or that item is.I will introduce the target language by asking eg: Are there any glasses? No,there aren't. or: Is there a sofa?Yes,there is.

Grammar theory and exercise (12-15 minutes) • Explaining and using the there is\are construction

I will handout a grammar and its grammar part.I will explain the grammar table and they can do afterwards the exercise and to check their understanding of the there is\are construction. Student should compare the answers in pairs then I ll check the whole class and ask why the chose their answers.

Vocabulary (10-12 minutes) • To provide names of different rooms and furniture

I will give students a handout.They should match the words with the pictures and compare the answers with a partner.

Vocabulary production (7-10 minutes) • To memorize new vocabulary

Students should fold the sheet of paper with the vocabulary exercise and in pairs ask each other questions about the furniture and rooms they see on the picture.

Speaking (8-12 minutes) • production vocabulary and grammar

Students will draw they home with the rooms and furniture.They show in pairs their houses and furniture and describe it to each other.If there is time students swap partners.
