to practice listening & shadow reading in the TL, and 'wh+do you...? & short answers' structures.
Procedure (39-53 minutes)
Teacher introduces himself, greets students. Teacher pairs Ss up. Gives them some questions to discuss. (Qs: 1. What do we need to do to stay alive? 2. How about our eating and drinking habits? 3. Do we eat at home or outside? 4. How many meals are there in a day?) First 3 Qs are to discuss in pairs. And after the 4th Q, teacher writes the names of daily meals as a cline on the WB.
Teacher introduces the survey. Explains the task. Pairs SS up. Distributes the HOs. Ss will have to guess the missing words from the survey. The missing words are ...1.day, 2.eat, 3.fish, 4.restaurant, 5.family, 6.school.
Teacher plays the recording and Ss check their answers. Teacher might play the recording more than once if necessary.
Teacher plays the recording again. This time students have to match the answers with questions from the survey. Teacher might play the recording more than once, if it's necessary. Answers: A6, B5, C1, D4, E3, F2.
First students read the recordings' text in pairs, then they read it in groups, and at last they do shadow reading with the CD.
Students first do the survey with their pairs, then they have to remember what their pairs say, because later they will have to say what they have talked to the WC.
Questions: 1. Which is your favorite restaurant? 2. Do you like fish/meat? 3. How often do you go there? 4. What do you like about that place? 5. Is it an expensive place?
Before finishing the class, teacher points out the mistakes that he observed during the class without giving any names.
