Description

In this lesson ss will practise their listening and reading skills to talk about internet dating and give their opinions.

Materials

Abc • New English File Elementary Student’s book pp 18, 19 • NEF CD, sentence cards • Blu Tack • Hand-

Main Aims

  • To provide practice in reading and listening for specific information in the context of daily lives

Subsidiary Aims

  • To revise the present simple tense

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will put 4 pictures on the board for people who are dating and ask the students these question: 1- what can you see in the pictures? 2- How could they know each other? 3- How could you meet new people? 4- what do you know about internet dating? 5- Do you know any web sites for that purpose? After that I'll show them a picture from the book and tell them I want you to meet Natasha and Darren both of them want to meet a partner on the internet. How old do you think they are? could you ask each other? then elicit the answers

Pre-Reading (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I'll show them on the power point some words 1- sushi 2- a cinema 3- a magazine 4- mineral water 5- wine

While-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

- Before give them their reading task, I'll give them the instructions like: These are emails between Darren and Natasha you are gonna read them and fill the blanks with Darren or Natasha. - After that demo with them . For example, No.1 who is 30 Darren or Natasha? and elicit the answer, then let them read and answer.

Post-Reading (3-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- They can check the answers with each other and then provide an answer key.

- write on the board these words : - alcohol - sushi - his mother and let them guess what Darren say about them

- before listening to the conversation , I'll give them the listening task and see if they could complete it

While-listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

Post-Listening (1-2 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

- show a picture for a disaster and a success then elicit the information from them after knowing these two words I'll Show them a picture for Darren and Natasha then ask are they happy or sad? is the lunch a success or a disaster?
